With our new SingleSignOn Connector, users can access the backup client with the login credentials of their CM4all OnlineDrive account. This significantly reduces complexity, since users no longer have to configure the backup client with their WebDAV settings.
The updated backup client itself includes an entirely revamped user interface as well as a simplified profile wizard that enables users to create backup profiles in seconds. Users can also set filters to include or exclude data according to file size, format, date, location, and other criteria. Enhanced backup and synchronization settings have also been added and now allow for synthetic backup, a combination of partial file updating with versioning, filename encoding and zipping, which can also be described as differential versioning. To ensure data consistency, each partial backup includes an MD5 checksum for each file, so that restored files can be verified to be 100% correct.
In addition, extended log files that record traffic and all file synchronizations provide a valuable monitoring and reporting tool. The application supports automated file splitting and reassembly to facilitate the transfer of large files as well as general data compression during file uploading via the backup client to ensure efficient transfer times. A dedicated restore wizard guarantees data consistency and facilitates the restoration of data by guiding users through the process. Our backup client also enables users to define the number of file versions to keep in their CM4all OnlineDrive account for easy tracking of file histories and convenient selection of the desired version when restoring backed-up files.
