What are the current career prospects for graduates of mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technology? What do leading companies in these fields expect in the way of education and experience on job applications?
I had the chance to discuss these issues with other executives at a panel discussion at Cologne University of Applied Sciences on November 3, 2014. The MYCE Talk (Make Your Career Effective, www.myce-talk.de) was well attended by students of various technical subjects, and a number of interesting topics regarding requirements and the working environment came up.
One special discussion point was the percentage of women working in technical professions and IT. The panel agreed that working in mixed teams encourages innovation – but that there is a lack of female candidates. Content Management AG is always pleased to hear from any qualified applicant and would be more than happy to increase the number of female employees on our software development team or in any other technical department! Overall, it was a good experience to talk to young people and learn about what they need and expect. Who knows? Maybe we'll be welcoming one of them as a new CM4all employee in the future!
