If something happens more than once, it automatically becomes a tradition — at least here in Cologne. Our internal End-Of-The-Year Company Review has become one of those traditions, born of the idea that the development teams should show off what they were up to during the year. But this time, (almost) every department at CM-AG participated in the event. And it was a whopper this year: Four full hours of lightning talks from every corner of the company shed some light on what we’ve been up to: QA, support, system administrators, legal, marketing, development, you name it.
Four hours (including some well-earned breaks) is a pretty long time. But the diversity of the talks made them well worth watching. While some colleagues just took the opportunity to give an improvised speech about their year in review, others had a good time presenting full-scale multimedia TED-type talks in just 10 minutes. Some hard numbers regarding our performance this year were mixed with feedback from testers, customers and clients.
But one highlight for me was when one member of the development team mentioned in his review that 2016 was the best year working for the company he and his team had ever had. Although we can't say that everything we do goes off without a hitch, we must have done something right!
We finished the day by visiting one of our good local brew pubs for our annual Christmas night out with the company.
