CM4all wins Corporate Kick in Cologneby Michael Boese
Wow – what a weekend! Just in time for the World Cup, our local club S.C. Fortuna Köln knocked at our door: Out of the office and off to the field, they said. Cologne start-ups and digital industry companies were called to swap stale office air for the scent of freshly mown lawn.
Inspired by the inglorious World Cup exit by the German team, we decided to put on our soccer cleats and prove to ourselves that we can do better. Along with twelve other companies, we spent half a day kicking the ball around on one of the club’s fields to crown the kings and queens of Cologne's digital scene in the group stage and finals. Our players were reinforced with a professional player from Fortuna Köln’s women’s team. We were lucky to have Theresa supporting us – it turned out to be just what we needed.
Terrific team performance leads us to the title
We started with low expectations but quickly found our groove and survived the group stage undefeated. Our terrific team performance put us in the finals and helped us finish the winners! What a spectacle! And after all the disappointment about the World Cup, our winners’ beer tasted even better.
Well, we may not be world champions anymore, but this title feels great too! And after so much exercise, we quickly found our way to a marvelous BBQ, chatting with the other teams and watching the pros from England and Sweden at a public viewing of the game.
We have now returned to our offices – still proud and also happy that we could give something back to the great people of Fortuna Köln who made this possible: All of the donations from the participating companies will support the women’s team.
