CM4all adds Enhanced Multimedia Capabilities: Video, Music and Photos to Consumer Edition

To unify the most popular strands of consumer Web interest the CM4all WebsiteCreator Consumer Edition has been upgraded. In addition to photos - video and music files can now be uploaded, embedded, presented easily and shared with greater multimedia power via personal websites.

CM4all, a leading developer of Web-based applications for the Internet with over two million end customers worldwide, today announced the release of enhanced multimedia capabilities to its core product CM4all WebsiteCreator.

Responding to the strong end user demand for audio and visual online entertainment that has made offerings like YouTube® and MySpace® so popular, CM4all has added new functionality to various parts of its Consumer Edition allowing video and music upload and embed. These enhancements ensure end customers have multimedia-rich experiences which will complement the community sharing philosophy of the Consumer Edition. The result is a secure platform for all levels of user to experience the social networking advantages of the Internet – from within CM4all’s OEM partners’ Web space.

Leveraging the capabilities of a powerful uploading engine, all uploaded media is displayed in a native style within the content area of the newly created Community Media Album and Multi-Author Video Blog. The Community Media Album serves as an entertainment center for photos, video and music while the addition of automatically formatted and embedded video and music content transforms the existing blogging solution into a Multi-Author Video Blog - accessible conventionally and via RSS subscription. End users are enabled to create the community of their choice by assigning their Buddies multimedia upload rights so they can contribute via browser login to the published website.

Detailed enhancements include:

  • Upload and management of images, movies and music in one place
  • Multi Author Video Blog open to embed code for movies and music - including a movie player on external sites
  • Automatically embedded movie and mp3 player also works in thumbnail view
  • Standardized thumbnail view - independent of media type
  • Comments page for each media element adds interactivity
  • URL for each media element (permalink)
  • Advanced Slideshow (with DHTML transparent comments layer on/off)

The enhanced multimedia capabilities with their AV functionality have been designed to collaborate with the live editor and community contribution systems - two core components of the Consumer Edition introduced by CM4all last year.

“These feature enhancements mark an important step towards our goal of delivering two distinct Editions of our CM4all WebsiteCreator product that address and target the specific needs of the Business and Consumer markets,” said Robert Schovenberg, CEO of CM4all. “What makes this new feature release unique is that it offers full multimedia sharing power together with community control. We believe that consumers should experience the benefits of sharing information within privacy parameters they themselves define.”
